Tuesday September 9 marked our first vocational day and our first presentation at the Rotary Club of Strathaven.
Ryan attended the Central Scotland Forest Trust and the Forestry Commission. Sarah attended the Strathaven Academy campus. Wayne enjoyed a day at the Music Academy in Glasgow. Robin visited a old financial institution, the school of art at Renfrew Street, and enjoyed a lunch at the Kelvin Grove Art Gallery. Leah spent the morning with a portrait photographer, and the afternoon at the North Lanarshire Council. Our day was full of interesting facts and opportunites.
We all have a few facts and thoughts that we can contribute to our professions back home.
In the evening we attended our first dinner meeting at the Rotary Club of Strathaven. President Maher Habidi hosted us, and each Rotarian made us feel extremely welcome. The members were excited to visit with us and learn of our professions. Even the local paper photographed us!
After the meeting we were encourgaed to visit a loal pub, Weavers, to enjoy a local brewed ale. We were all eager to try a sampling and be part of the local scenery. To commemorate the occasion, of course a few photographs had to be taken. I did have a few looks my way regarding the flashes.... I guess photographs in a pub is not common... I'm sure the locals will get used to it!
Today, Wednesday, we were whisked to Edinburgh to visit the Castle and shop around the Royal Mile. The history was very impressive and offered great insight to how life was like in the past. This evening were are enjoying a supper at one of our host families and recaping on our day.
Until next time, Leah
